CLASSICAL MUSIC WITH A SPIRTUAL NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE.
Lisa
Cheryl Thomas, Native American Concert Pianist of Tsalagi (Cherokee)
heritage, shares and preserves traditional Native American music through
her touch on "the ivories".
She has graduated through the ranks
of classical studies, beginning piano at the age of seven and giving
her first solo recital at the University of Louisville, Ky's preparatory
music school, "Garden Court", at the age of 14, and in spite
of numerous tragedies and "would be" deterrents, has gone
on to earn honors, scholarships, a Master of Music Degree in Piano
Performance from Southern Methodist University, has entered and won
awards in numerous competitions, and performs frequently to enthusiastic
applause.
Lisa Thomas is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree
(DMA) in piano performance from the University of North Texas, Denton
and some of her career highlights include playing at a private reception
in 1990 for The President Of The United States, George Herbert Walker
Bush and performing in the esteemed Carnegie Hall.
